Episode 11: HOME ‘ON STAGE’ Lori Kirstein: Actress | Singer | Author | Entrepreneur

As a child, Lori Kirstein felt most at home sitting and napping under her mother’s baby grand piano. She says, when her mother played, ‘the notes rained down on me, and became a part of my flesh’.

A multi-talented force herself, (an actress, singer, author, and entrepreneur), Lori experienced a period of homelessness, which has shaped and informed her creative process. When Lori speaks about home, she speaks about the ‘molten lava of truth’, rather than rigid structure. Home, in the most positive and present sense, is not ‘Pleasantville’. We speak about finding and building home.

Lori Kirstein is the Founder of The Goodbye Good Girl Project, which has the mission to free women leaders from the social “shoulds”. Her LeaderSHIFT and Powerful Woman Leadership Programs draw on her lived experience as an actress, singer, author, entrepreneur, and 30 year veteran of the corporate world. Her background in acting brings self-expression and authenticity into her coaching and interpersonal understanding. Her background in sociolinguistics and communications bring an understanding of the ways in which social, professional and spiritual "rules" can be transformed to evoke presence.

TRANSCRIPT EXCERPT

“So, we have to find ways to make peace with this home; this physical home, that we carry with us everywhere we go. Not only to come to peace, but to come to peace with the fact that we are going to have to decorate, we're going to have to un-decorate, we're going to have to take certain pieces of luggage, and chairs and tables out of this place, that no longer work for us. We have to come into an experience of self creating.”
