IMG_4770.jpg

This is the FInal Episode of Season 1! To all listeners, THANK YOU! From starting this naive experiment, during the pandemic, from my home, it amazes me that I have listeners all over the United States and the world. Wow! I am taking a break over the summer, and will return in September.

This episode gives you some short Season 1 highlight clips, and ‘behind the scenes’ info about the Whereing Podcast. It is part of a recent talk about the podcast I was invited to give to the Pratt Institute School of Design, Department of Interior Design INT Talks. Many thanks to David Foley, Chair of the Department of Interior Design, who hosts the talk.

Until we meet again in September, have a wonderful summer!

TRANSCRIPT EXCERPT

“The unexpected thing that has happened, is that I find it to be an amazing combination to find someone who does extraordinary work, or who has had an extraordinary experience, but is still quite humble about it. And, what happens to these guests after the episode comes out, I find that the feedback that I get is that they feel really seen and heard in ways that they haven't experienced. This really gives me a high. I also see people I interview in new ways, that I don't normally see them. It's not only the interview and the conversation, but it's also the editing process, because I have to listen to it over and over and over again. And, it's not just the conversation, but it's the space in between the words.  I feel like it's watching a child sleep. If any of you have had that experience where you're just looking at them, and watching them breathe, but they don't know that you're there. That's how I feel when I'm editing, as I'm listening to it. I hear all the bumps and the mistakes, and I hear their pauses, and it feels like I'm breathing into this space of edits. And, it's a way of seeing through oral conversation.”
